Widescreen Review has published a review of the UP5000 in their Jun 08 issue and gave it a Very Positive. The reviewer was impressed with the great video processing capabilities as well as the fact that the affordability of the player combined with inexpensive HDDVD discs makes it a great buy.Here are the pros and cons.

- Reon processor is fantastic
- Relatively affordable
- HDDVD can be had for cheap
Cons:
- Audio shortcomings due to lack of high resolution codecs
- Need firmware to upgrade to current standards
