Review: Ultra-Wide Angle Mega-Zoom Samsung HZ10W Camera

The Samsung HZ10W camera is a point and shoot, but is equipped with some dSLR capabilities. The 24mm Schneider lens enables the camera to take wider pictures. Thus the user won’t have to back farther away when taking huge group shots, or ask the subjects to pack closer together. For nature lovers, you could take wider landscape views without having to exclude some parts of it. The HZ10W has 10.2 megapixel CCD and 10x optical zoom (yeah 10x!). This will definitely be a great plus when capturing up-close moments in concert halls. You could also use the mega zoom capability if you want to spy on someone, or think you can find a career in taking paparazzi shots. Haha!
Both optical and digital image stabilization are present in the camera, to ensure blur- free images. Shutter speed, focus, exposure and ISO can also be manually adjusted, which is definitely good for some amateur point-and-shoot photography. The HZ10W can also capture 720p high definition video clips at 30 frames per second, and uses H.264 compression to maximize the capacity of the SD/SDHC memory card.

Other functions are available such as Smile Shot, face recognition, Blink Detection, 13 scene modes for different situations, and the Beauty Shot which will even out skin tone and remove blemishes. Instant photoshop goodness at the time of capture. The camera measures 4.13”x 2.4?x 1.4”, and the LCD display of the camera is adequate at 2.7 inches.
The HZ10W will be sold for $299.99 and is available in black and silver.
