Following is a user review about Samsung U10 full HD camcorder.
Before introducing the new type camcorder HMX-U10, let’s imagine the image of a typical camcorder. It’s like Circular or rectangular body on a right hand with an LCD on a left hand, right?
The camcorder HMX-U10 from Samsung which is about to be released with the concept of ‘Shoot to Share in Full HD’ doesn’t look like other camcorders at all. That’s why I mentioned this is a new type.
It has just 56 X 103 X 15.5mm of size and 90g of weight with 90 minutes of shooting time and 2 hours of playing time by 3 hours of recharging (6 hours with USB).
The P&S (Point and Shoot) camcorder HMX-U10 has F3.0 optical 1x digital 3.5~4x zoom 1/2.3” CMOS inner zoom type lens. And the lens allows you to shoot up to 1920×1080 1080/30p Full HD videos, so it’s much better than other P&S camcorders supporting 1440×1080 HD.
In order to minimize fatigue on your wrist, it has 7 degree angle. From the back, there’s DC port for power and recharge, memory slot, and initialization button on the back. On the left, there’s mini USB port, component, and AV port. And they are all protected with caps from dust or shock.
Using a circular tripod receptacle on the left bottom, it can be connected to the tripod, so it’s convenient to carry and shoot. And it also can be conveniently used for interval recording and scenery shot.
With a microphone on the top and simple control part on the back, it’s more convenient to use. On the bottom of the 2” 154K pixels LCD, recording, playing, and shooting buttons for 3648 X 2736~2048 X 1152 are located.
Below, there’s a control part operated by touch and built-in speaker. From the OK button on the center, Zoom In/Out buttons on the upward and downward, Return and Menu on the left and right, sharing button to upload on YouTube or Flickr are located. If you touch it when it’s connected to a PC, built-in Intelli-Stuido is executed and then will start uploading. Login information has to be inserted before.
As Recording and Playing buttons are separate, the control of the HMX-U10 is really convenient. Especially, pushing the OK button called OK guide, you can select Watch, backlight compensation menu, return and iSCENE on recording, or you can select skip, volume control, play, and pause on playing.
It’s not hard to set the HMX-U10, but let’s take a look at the important part. Most of all, including basic settings such as time and memory format and setting for TV connection is necessary. If it’s difficult, you will need a guide.
That’s why the guide for connection of component and composite is provided from the setting menu. It’s just a simple image, but it’s much more effective than looking through a manual.
While recording, iSCENE and backlight compensation can also be set. It’s more convenient to use the OK guide, because you need to change it a lot depending on the environment. When the weather is cloudy or light is located at the back of the subject, the backlight compensation is needed to set. If it’s difficult for you to understand, before recording, you can easily see the difference by touching the backlight compensation from the OK guide.
The HMX-U10 supports recording of Full HD videos. Therefore, you can record 1080/30p~720/30p HD, 480/60p SD, and slow motion. You might not be familiar with the slow motion. The slow motion takes 120 frames per 1 sec with 320×240 resolution, so you can play it at a half speed, and it allows you to analyze running athlete or moving cars more accurately.
