The HMX-U10 is a high definition camcorder that supports 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and records on CMOS sensors with fixed focus lens, 2-inch LCD display, and USB 2.0 interface. The HMX-U10 also features 1920 x 1080 full high definition video recording capabilities, 10 megapixel digital image captures in an ultra-compact design that measures 56 x 103 x 15.5 mm (at 95 g). The camcorder also features a seven degree angled grip, time-lapse recording (for capture moments such as sun rise and a flower blooming), USB charging (through a computer), built-in intelli-studio that lets users edit images without having to install software to a PC, in-camera editting, H.264 video format support and one-touch upload the YouTube™ capability. The HMX-U10 retails for $199.99 and is available in September 2009.

The HMX-U10 is targeted at the consumer looking for portability in a HD camcorder. It offers full-HD video recording with 1920 x 1080 resolution with its 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor that also supports 10 mega-pixel digital still images capture. This can all be reviewed on the camcorder’s two-inch LCD screen. The camcorder measures 56 mm x 103 mm x 15.5 mm and weighs 95 g including the battery. The HMX-U10 features Samsung’s built-in intelli-studio software, which is Samsung’s play-edit-sharing program that allows users to edit and play their video without having to install supporting software. Sharing content can also be done through the intelli-studio program as it uploads content to video-sharing Web sites. A one-touch “upload” button, available directly on the HMX-U10, provides a direct connection to YouTube™, reducing the number of steps needed to upload footage. The camcorder also allows basic on-camera editing, including the ability to split video files. The camcorder also features Samsung’s animated thumbnail feature that provides a way for users search for video clips. Each video clip saved on the camcorder is represented by a small thumbnail on the LCD screen which provides a short playback of the video when highlighted by a user as they scroll through the videos. The HMX-U10 also features a versatile charging system that lets users recharge the battery by either connecting the camcorder to the supplied AC adapter or via USB while the camcorder is connected to a computer.
