In that time I've reviewed a few of the models in their lineup and even decided to get myself one to replace an old and failing camcorder of mine. Introduction
Do you remember the days where the personal camcorder had to sit up on your shoulder? Perhaps the large VHS tapes which you had to use to record the world around you in video? Well it seems those large and clunky video recorders of the past are definitely long gone. Welcome the Samsung HMX-R10.
Known as one of the smallest, lightest Full-HD camcorder that is no bigger than that regular sized coffee drink you like at your favorite coffee shop, the Samsung HMX-R10 looks as if it is loaded with features without loading you down with extra weight.
What's Inside The Box?
There are numerous items inside the box that will allow you to use your Samsung HMX-R10 to its full potential. Included in the box are regular AV cables, component video cables, lithium battery, ferrite filters, AC adapter, USB cable, a protective glove and of course, the HMX-R10 camcorder. The only thing that Samsung did not include was an HDMI cable for those who might be able to utilize it.

I have always been taking the ES55 for 2 weeks as if it’s a part of my body. I’d like to summarize the feature of the ES55. Some of the functions were really amazing!!
1. Perfect portrait shot – Beauty shot, face recognition, and self guide.
Long con shot! – Beauty shot
The skin is killing me.
People say Beauty shot, beauty shot, but I thought the original face doesn’t go far. However, when I took a self shot, I was so surprised that almost dead. Handsome and flawless face. I don’t think the photoshop isn’t that perfect. I imagined people put their two thumbs up after seeing their faces.
<Recognizing faces – Face recognition>
Yoo Hui Yeol in my room as a poster. Turning on the face recognition of the ES55, I just faced the camera, and then it found the face like this.
This function is the 4th function on the scene function.
Selecting the face recognition(Normal), it starts looking for a face with a comment “Recognizing faces and setting the focus and exposure”.
And selecting the face recognition (Self guide), “Once face is recognized, beep sounds” comes up. When taking a self shot, you used to take only one eye, or part of your face, because you couldn’t see the LCD. If setting this function, when a face is recognized, it makes ‘beep beep beep beep’ sound. When the face is out, the sound stops. When the sound is made, you take the shot!!
2. 10.2M pixels digital camera

When hearing the price and looking at the size, people thought ‘Cheap one is so-’. And after checking the 10.2 Mega pixels, many of them looked at this once more.
“It’s cheap?? Is it really 10.2M pixels?”
“Yes, it is!!” (With boasting)
So, I don’t take a picture with high resolution. With the lowest resolution, pictures were good enough.

3. Intelligent LCD
When it’s bright, the LCD becomes bright, and if it’s dark, the LCD also becomes dark itself, so when you are in the bright place, you don’t need to hide the LCD to see it.
I didn’t know that even though I took a picture for all day long. We used to easily feel inconvenience, but not to feel convenience.
Come to think of it, I don’t have any experience to hide the LCD, or get eyes tired under the strong sunlight in Cheong SaPo, Yong Koong temple, Dongbag island, KwangAn bridge. Not in the Hwang Ryoung Mountain for night view.

4. 4 colors of stylish body
I got the pink one, but I think other models are also good. And this is made of metal. I’m also very careful of the metal body like the plastic body, but I was relieved when carrying it.
5. Convenient and simple charge battery type.
My former camera was AA battery type. Therefore, at the first time, I thought I could take a picture for a long time, because I could buy the battery any time. However, the normal battery doesn’t go for a long time in a digital camera. Sometimes buying an old battery, as soon as I replace the battery, it starts blinking to change the battery. So, I needed to buy the battery for digital cameras, so I couldn’t buy a battery whenever I want. It’s just theoretical. Exclusive battery is much better.
Besides, it’s charged with the USB. Of course without a computer, it can be charged.
6. Macro, Night scenery, IS
Pictures taken by the ES55 are really vivid as if the are coming out!!
<Macro in my life! – Macro/Approaching mode>
This screen comes out when pushing the macro button of the ES55. For other cameras, users push the macro only when they need it. However, once activating the auto macro in the ES55, the message “Shots from every distance are suitable” shows up, while selecting the normal AF, the message “Suitable for focus distance more than 80cm” shows up. In a word, you can just turn on the auto macro for various shots from macro to scenery.
However, it was not good enough to take ultra close shots.
Then, you can set the macro below the scenery.
Sometimes, I don’t care about the macro button, but just set the auto macro, so it’s convenient. But to take a macro, I need to change the mode through the menu, so it’s kind of complicated. But you will soon be used to this.
Isn’t it good? When I heard the macro 10cm, I thought it’s not that good, but I think it would be okay, unless you are used to the camera with the ultra macro function.

Thos pictures are not edited like other pictures. And the size is also the smallest size in the ES500. The quality is the fine among super fine/fine/standard. Most of them are for blog, so I don’t like heavy files. But the difficult scene scenery pictures are like…

When I wrote the preview, I said I don’t like to use this function, because it takes very long time to activate. However, I have to use this function. Please look at the picture.

7. Video
When looking for information about the ES55 in NAVER, I saw someone said it’s good except the video function. Therefore, I almost gave up the video function, because other functions are good, and took some videos. Then, Oh~
I took Kwang An Ri from the 2nd floor of the City tour bus. It’s shaken more on the 2nd floor than the First. Isn’t it great? I’m the only one who think like that?
Besides, the video is made as an AVI file, so without any converting work, it’s convenient to see from a PC, and good to upload on the web site such as Naver.
I ran some editing program, because people walked around, and a truck hid the vision, so the size and quality are kind of degraded. It’s much better to see without editing work.
I’m going to upload other functions later, after using this more.
The compact digital camera Samsung ES55 which has good portability, reasonable price, and great performance comes to me. Like “Where there is a way, there’s a way”, my wife has been asking me to buy a small compact digital camera, and I’ve got the right one. I’m expecting the food for the next few days.
ES55 Box
The ES series are convenient cameras, and people say the convenience and auto shot functions are in the camera, so I’m expecting it. However, I haven’t used it much, so let’s take the rain check, and see the unboxing and appearance with pictures.

I’m unboxing it with a beating heart. This is a domestic product. I’m comfortable with the Korean manual and install CD. This consists of body, battery, hand strap, AC adaptor/USB cable, AV cable, install CD, manual, and warranty.
The ES55 comes with 4 colors such as silver, black, pink, and grey with metal body. As a man, I definitely should have selected black or grey, but I chose the pink. There’s a reason. The big thing is that my wife likes the pink.
It’s because 90.4 X 59 X 21.6cm of size and 116g weight go better with pink rather than black. However, the black, grey, and silver were all pretty as a metal body, when I actually saw them.
The 2.5 inch intelligent LCD responding the light is 230K pixels and has a good vision under the sunlight. Besides, easy buttons and menu composition for beginners are noticeable, so I’m expecting this camera much.
When turning it on, the protruding type lens comes out, and it provides 35-105mm angle on 35mm. 35-105 FOV is not good enough for wide angle, but as a standard zoom lens, it’s the most frequently used FOV.
It’s the size comparison with the Samsung Anycall Omnia phone. It’s 20mm shorter than the Omnia phone 112mm, and the ES55 is 1.5 mm thicker than the phone. The weight is much lighter. It feels like holding a cigarette box.
It provides 10M pixels, various functions, and great quality pictures unlike other low price digital cameras. I actually took pictures on the last weekend during camping, and the smooth function, face recognition, and IS function are so satisfactory considering the price. I’m looking forward to being with the pictures by the ES55.
Tester as Relief in such boredom~ You know my digital camera~ Such a big size, small LCD window, and 3.4M pixels. I’ve been using this well for a long time, but once I have used the new one, I don’t think I will use the old one. What should I do?
It’s shorter than the cell phone. And what about the color? It’s so pretty. It’s good, because it’s not that unique pink. Looking at it, I’m so happy.

The menu seems complicated, but it’s very convenient to use. Selecting the scene in the mode, you can select it among beauty shot / night scene / portrait / kid / scenery / macro / character / sunset / dawn / backlight / firework / beach / snow.
I don’t know picture setting. Just select things. Then it’s okay.
The beauty makes skin gorgeous. I’m going to use this a lot.
The DIS is Dual Image Stabilization, and selecting this function, it takes a long time to take a shot. After pushing the shutter, it’s such a long time. Since I’m tired of the slow speed of my old camera, I don’t like the DIS function much. (I don’t know I can make the speed faster.)
The TV connection cable is unique, isn’t it? It’s good, because I can connect the digital camera to a TV to see a video with my family.
Picture size
Isn’t it amazing? I almost upload them on the internet, so 1M is enough.
And the performance of ES15 and the ES55 is almost the same. The appearance becomes different, and the circular type battery changes to the exclusive battery of the ES55. I prefer the exclusive battery.
Ah! The USB port has the rubber to prevent from losing. It’s good, because it prevents from losing, but I need to be careful when plugging the USB. I might break the rubber. It should have been better if it wasn’t bothering like this.

Pictures are good enough. I saw the price is around 170,000 won on the internet.
