They are sick and tired of the frequent changes and small improvement. Then, what should all the companies do? Yes, they need to concentrate getting the loyalty of a customer, so when they do buy their next camera they will first look at the company’s products.

Rather than making a shocking or brilliant item, a company that care about their customers with small details will get their attention for those expensive purchases.

There’s no exception in the camera market. Cameras with better shooting performance and easy to used functions will lead the market. Samsung released the New Paradigm lens in the second half of 2010. That was the Samsung NX 20mm F2.8. The Samsung NX 20mm F2.8 is a new slim pancake lens released with the NX100, and by adopting the new function called i-Function, it introduced an innovative shooting setting system for customers and NX mount slim & smart wide single focus lens.

i-Function is a new shooting mode setting system in order for users to take faster and more accurate shots. Samsung NX 20mm F2.8 i-Function allows users to set the shooting option with a button on the side on the lens and the focus ring. None of this is done on the body, so it’s quite interesting. While shooting, users don’t need to look at the body to change the option, but just by looking at the LCD or through the viewfinder and pushing the i-Fn button, various settings such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure, white balance, and ISO can be set.

NX11-The Evolution of Samsung’s Camera

The Evolution of Samsung’s Cameras, NX10 becoming one with i-Function Lens

Samsung has unveiled the new NX11 at CES2011 in Las Vegas during January. The NX11 has been designed based on the NX10, and supports 14.6M pixels APS-C image sensor, ISO 3200, 720P movie recording, and 30~1/4000s shutter speed. These are almost the same as the NX10. Due to these features, people will easily think there’s no difference between the two cameras, but taking a closer look, there are some differences such as i-Function lens functions, panorama, and sound capture mode. Besides, it has advanced noise handling feature in high ISO, so the overall quality of the pictures has also been upgraded. These upgrades are good.

Practical Design with Grip

The design is similar to the NX10, but the grip is better. The grip on the front has been changed. The grip allocates more space for the middle finger, which is good for us small handed people. It is 123 x 87 x 39.8mm and weighs 353g without the battery and memory card.

Due to the new shooting modes and i-Function mode, the design of the mode dial has changed.

The i-Function button on the 18-55mm II OIS lens (released with the NX11) is to control the camera functions. It’s a good combination with the NX11 which includes the electronic view finder, because various settings are easily set by the lens. The i-Function can be activated by pushing the i-Fn button on the lens barrel, and the setting is adjustable by using the focus ring. The adjustable items vary by the mode. In P/S/A/M modes, ISO, White Balance, Aperture, Shutter speed, and exposure can be set. There are more video samples. Time is limitless. It was, is, and will be going on. It never stops by anything. That’s why people try to leave the trace of the time. Some people have some items, draw a picture, or take a picture to remember a precious moment. There are more various ways, but I think a picture and video is the one that leaves the most vivid record. However, it’s very difficult to find a camcorder or camera satisfying everything. Even if it was found, the price always mattered. However, if you have the WB2000 from Samsung, you don’t have to worry about finding one, because it can take both Full HD movie and 10M Full size picture.

The rush of the NX

The NX from Samsung consists of equipment from Samsung such as sensor, lens, image processor, AMOLED screen, battery, and various accessories. Panasonic and Sony have similar products, but I think Samsung has the most powerful resources. Samsung has already made 3 compact interchangeable lens type cameras with 5 different lenses. It’s been about a year since the NX10. The NX10 was just the beginning. I’m anticipating the next models. The world’s first i-Function lens NX100, firmware upgrade for previous users, APS-C, and the upgrade of contrast AF. Samsung is so passionate that no one can deny the great work of Samsung for the NX series.

Last year, the front display which was a big issue was shown up with an inner zoom lens for the first time in the world. Recently, inner zoom cameras are not the majority, but I highly evaluate the inner zoom cameras from Samsung. They have great lens performance and the quality is not bad at all compared to other protruding lens cameras. There’s some weakness in inner zoom lens cameras such as AOV and brightness of the lens, but the always slim design is suitable for woman users. The new ST100 has the front LCD to support various functions such as self shot and couple shot, and the stylish design is also fascinating.

I’ve been waiting for long to see the new lens interchangeable type camera from Samsung. However, I’m so happy to see it now. When I pushed the shutter for the first time, I felt something special. Through the NX10, lens interchangeable type cameras which the APS-C sensor is installed will face the second generation. Samsung is the world first for a mirror-less camera with the APS-C sensor having drastically reduced distance between mount part and the sensor. It’s the beginning of Samsung Evolution.
