Following shows how to upgrade the Q10 camcorder firmware.

Download HMX-Q10 Firmware

The Q10 firmware upgrade will extend the function of the Switch Grip. Before this firmware upgrade, the Switch Grip was only supported while on standby mode, but this firmware upgrade enhances the Q10 Switch Grip functions allowing you to switch your grip while recording or while on pause mode. What an exciting news to all the Q10 users! Download the firmware and upgrade your Q10 now to start an amazing experience.

There are two ways to upgrade to Q10 firmware: One is to upgrade through Intelli-studio and the other way is to upgrade through the website. We’ll walk you through the upgrading process. We’ll walk you through the upgrading process. Please follow the procedures step by step

#1. Firmware upgrade using intelli-studio

1. Connect the camcorder to the computer.

2. Pop-up window will open. Click on ‘Run iStudio.exe’.

3. When intelli-studio opens, click ‘web-support’ from the menu controls at the top.

4. Click on ‘Upgrade firmware for the connected device’.

5. Check the ‘Update camera/camcorder F/W’ window, check the message then click ‘next’ to move on to the next step.

6. Once the update process is completed, disconnect the USB and turn the camcorder off.

7. Turn the camcorder back on and when ‘Upgrade firmware now?’ message pops up, choose ‘Yes’ to upgrade the firmware.

8. Once the upgrading is done, the camcorder automatically turns itself off.

9. Turn the camera back on. Go to Settings>General>Default set and complete the firmware upgrade.

#2. Firmware upgrade via samsung.com

Connect to Samsung.com. Click on the following link(Q10 Firmware) and you’ll see the page above. Apply the following steps to upgrade firmware.

1. Before you start, you have to format the memory card. Put the memory card into the camcorder and format the memory card.

2. Download the ‘q10.firmware.bin’ file from the website and copy it to the formatted memory card.

3. Connect the camcorder to the computer using an AC adapter.

4. Insert the memory card with the q10.firmware.bin file into the camcorder. Flip open the LCD screen (the camcorder will be automatically turned on) and the following message will appear.

“Upgrade firmware now?”

Choose “Yes”, and it will take about 5 minutes to complete the upgrade.

5. Once the upgrading is done, the camcorder automatically turns itself off. Remove the memory card and turn the camera back on.

6. Go to Settings>General>Default set and complete the firmware upgrade.

Firmware Updates for the NX lenses

SamsungImaging released a firmware update for the NX lens series.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies announced firmware upgrades for Samsung’s NX Lenses. The firmware upgrades for NX lens will enhance the product performance.

Here are the improvements in NX Lens Firmware

1. The rotation direction of MF Ring is changed to the opposite.
2. The power consumption of using the lens is reduced.
3. Focus accuracy is imporved when focus is set to infinite in Fireworks mode.

Firmware Updates for NX10 and NX100

Firwmares for NX10 and NX100 are now available.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies announced firmware upgrades for two products within Samsung’s NX compact system camera range – the NX100 and NX10 on April 18th 2011 in Seoul Korea.

The firmware upgrades for NX100 and NX10 will give a unified user experience for the full NX range and provide enhanced features for existing customers.

Following the availability of the innovative i-Function lens feature on both models, the latest upgrades are set to make the cameras even more convenient for the photographer to use, bringing added value to Samsung’s NX range customers and putting the perfect picture at their fingertips.

Here are the improvements in NX10 (v1.30) and NX100 (v1.10) Firmwares

1. The Panorama function is added (in the Scene Mode menu).

2. New 18-55(II) mm, 50-200(II) mm, and 18-200 mm i-Function lenses are supported (in addition to the OIS menu).

3. The algorithm of Video AF is improved, and the low contrast in the AF function is increased.

4. By default, the Video AF mode is set to CAF.

The firmware upgrade also makes these functions faster and quieter than ever, giving photographers the ability to take noise-free, professional-looking still images and movies with ease.

In addition, through the upgraded firmware, the NX100 and NX10 now provide the i-Function setting help guide via the camera’s display, as available on the recent NX11 model. The feature helps users take impressive shots more easily by guiding users with explanations on different functions of the i-Function lens.

NX10 / NX5 firmware update for i-Function lens

Samsung to Release Firmware Updates for NX10

Following describes how to download and upgrade the firmware version1.15 of Samsung NX10 camera.

Samsung Electronics has recently released firmware update for NX10. The NX10 users are able to download the latest firmware to enhance the product’s performance.

1. Before upgrading the firmware

● Make sure you use fully charged batteries. It is recommended that you use an AC adaptor for cameras that have an AC adaptor. If fully charged batteries are not used, or the power is cut during a firmware upgrade, the mainboard may be seriously damaged, resulting in camera malfunction.
If camera malfunction is caused during a firmware upgrade for the reasons given above, the mainboard may have to be serviced by a Samsung service centre, which may result in major repair charges.

● Before upgrading the firmware, make sure that you format the memory card on your PC or camera and then download the necessary firmware file. Since the MMC(MultiMediaCard) may not be suitable for firmware upgrade, depending on the model, check before you proceed with upgrading the firmware.

● Download the firmware file into the root directory of the memory card. Also check that the firmware file downloaded has the correct file name for the camera model.

● To upgrade firmware there should be sufficient free space on the memory card for the size of he firmware file. If the firmware upgrade is not completed because of insufficient memory space, delete some of the files saved on the memory to secure more free space and then try again.

● Do not operate the camera, remove the batteries, or cut the power while upgrading firmware. Operate the camera only after the firmware upgrade is complete.

● Once the firmware is upgraded, it is not possible to restore the earlier version of the firmware. When the firmware is upgraded, all the camera settings are set to their default values. Since all the files stored in the internal memory will be deleted, ensure that files are copied to other storage devices before upgrading firmware.

● Before downloading firmware, make sure you read the Software Use Terms Conditions. The act of downloading the firmware is taken to mean that you have agreed to the Software Use Terms and Conditions.

※ Should you need further detailed information, or if you experience difficulty in upgrading firmware, do not proceed with the process on your own. Visit a Samsung service centre near you.

2. Improvements compare to F/W version 1.15

□ We added EVF selection function on the AMOLED displayed menu.
□ We added MF Asist On/Off selection function.
□ We added MF usage function while using K-Mount Adapter.
□ We improved Auto White Balance function of Low color temperature condition.

3. How to Upgrade the Firmware

[Caution]
If the batteries are completely discharged during the firmware upgrade, camera malfunction may occur. Make sure to use fully charged batteries for safety. Ensure that you format the SD card before using it, and then save the firmware file on the formatted SD card.

1) Download the firmware file into the root directory of the SD memory card.

※ Please check the firmware file capicity whether it 15.5M or not.

2) After saving the firmware file to the SD card, please use the hardware safty removal as below.

3) Insert the SD card on which the firmware file is to be saved.

4) Press the menu button.

5) Move to “Setup Menu 3″ (Press the left button of 4-wat key.)

6) Select the “Firmware Update”
(After pressing the left button of 4-way key, press the OK button for 1 time.)

7) Select the “Body Firmware”. (Press the OK button for 1 time)

8) Select “Yes”. (After pressing the down button of 4-way key, press the OK button for 1 time.)

9) The upgrading progress bar will be increased, then after finishing it, camera will reboot again.

※ After finishing the firmware upgrade, please delete the firmware file on the SD card.

To download the latest firmware version 1.15, please click here and click the button on the bottom right. You may see the firmware update file(updated 2010-05-20) after manual and driver files.

Samsung has recently released the 1st firmware (version V1.65) of P2 DMB (YP-PB2).
