Rounding out Samsung’s digital camera introductions at CES 2009 are two new models joining the company’s popular and user-friendly SL-Series – the SL102 and SL420. Both new SL Series digital cameras feature a resolution of 10.2 mega-pixels, offer Face Detection and are powered by rechargeable Li-Ion batteries. The SL102 features a 3x optical zoom,

Digital Image Stabilization technology, and a 2.5 inch LCD, while the SL420 goes a step further, addressing consumers’ demands for larger LCD screens, longer zooms, and better stabilization. The SL420 features a larger 2.7 inch LCD display, a more powerful 5x optical zoom that allows the shooter to get in close to their subject from far away, and Dual Image Stabilization, which combines the strengths of both Optical and Digital Image Stabilization to help reduce blur caused by an unsteady hand. The SL102 can record MJPEG / VGA video, and the SL420 can record MPEG4 / SVGA video.

The level of retouching is also selectable by the shooter allowing them to control how much editing will be applied to image.

For added stability and blur-free images, Samsung has incorporated Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) technology into the TL100, a useful feature that helps reduce the blur found in images as a result of vibrations, hand shake or other unexpected movements at the moment of image capture.

Users can also record video with the new TL100. Featuring MPEG-4 video recording, consumers can capture video at a maximum resolution of 800×592 (SVGA) at 20fps and utilize the camera’s 3x optical zoom for added versatility. The TL100 also features useful in-camera editing controls, which allows users to pause, and then resume filming of video clips without having to save each clip as an individual file.

Further adding to the TL100’s ease of use is Samsung’s embedded Function Description program. Function Description provides users with a brief and easy to understand description of each setting when scrolling through the camera’s menus, helping them determine which setting is appropriate for their current shooting scenario.

Samsung launches TL100 and HZ10W digital cameras at CES 2009

Sammy's two cameras have varying features, but heaps of class

In addition to the camcorders they reeled off today, Samsung also let loose two new digital cameras, the 12.2-megapixel TL100 and the 10.2-megapixel HZ10W.

The TL100 measures just 16.6mm thick, with a 2.7-inch LCD screen and lens with 3x optical zoom. A new feature has been thrown into the mix, Smart Auto, which selects one of the 11 scene modes that suits the particular location and environment.

Video capture sounds fairly easy on the TL100, recording in MPEG-4 it films at 800 x 592 at 20fps.

Meanwhile, the 10.2-megapixel toting HZ10W has a 24mm Schneider lens with 10x optical zoom - much more suited to undercover snapping. If you feel inclined to film your chosen subject, 720p resolution at 30fps is a major boast for the HZ10W.

The HZ10W will be launching first, late January 2009 at $299.99, whereas the TL100 will be launching in Spring - price as yet unconfirmed.

Samsung’s New Still Camera Picks its Own Exposure Mode

LAS VEGAS — Judging by the pushing and shoving to get into the Samsung Press conference this afternoon at CES 2009, something big was going on, and we weren’t disappointed. Samsung took a hosepipe and metaphorically sprayed us to the back of the room with the amount of new products it announced.

The camera lineup consists of both camcorders and still digicams, although the differences between them appear top be shrinking as the stills cams can shoot video, too. In fact, the major differences appears to be the shape, with the movie cameras coming in sleek cylindical form.

Along with a couple of feature-bumped compacts from the SL range, the standout new camera is the TL-100, seen above. Mostly it’s just sexy and slim – 16.6m (0.65 inch) thick – but the 12.2 megapixel, 3X zoom camera has a new feature called Smart Auto, which picks the exposure mode for you depending on what the camera sees in front of it. So a picture of a person switches in the portrait exposure mode and… you get the picture.

It also comes with dual image stabilization, which shifts the lens and the sensor to stop things getting shaky. The price hasn’t yet been announced, but it will be available in Spring.

Samsung cams go ultrawide, ultraslim

During four digital camera announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, Samsung introduced a wide-angle, 10X-optical-zoom camera that ranges from an extremely wide 24mm on the wide-angle end to 240mm on the telephoto end. In wide-angle capability, the Samsung HZ10W is the league leader at this year's CES among fixed-lens cameras.

The 10.2-megapixel HZ10W, which will be available in January for $300, also features a 720p high-definition shooting mode (30 frames per second with the H.264 codec) that saves video clips as one file, even after the shooter pauses the recording. Also in the mix are dual optical/digital image stabilization and today's usual host of face-detection, smile-trigger, and red-eye-correction modes.

In addition to the HZ10W, Samsung announced the ultracompact, 12.2-megapixel TL100, which is just 16.6 millimeters thick.

The TL100 offers a new addition to Samsung's in-camera features: a Smart Auto mode, which automatically selects a scene mode or camera settings based on the shooting environment. The TL100, which also has a 3X optical zoom, MPEG-4 video capability, digital image stabilization, and a 2.7-inch-diagonal LCD, will be available in the spring, but pricing information has not yet been released.

Rounding out Samsung's CES 2009 camera announcements are two new entry-level models, the SL102 and SL420. The lower-end, 10.2-megapixel SL102 (pictured below) provides a 3X optical zoom, a 2.5-inch-diagonal LCD, motion-JPEG video shooting, face recognition, and digital image stabilization.

The slightly higher-end SL420 (pictured below) packs in much of the same features, but has a 5X optical zoom, dual optical/digital image stabilization, MPEG-4 video capability, a 2.7-inch LCD, blink detection, and a smile-trigger shutter. Both models will be available in the spring, but pricing is not yet available.

Review: Samsung TL100 Digital Camera First Impression Review

The DigitalCameraInfo posted information about Samsung TL100 digital camera as follows.

Fresh from the Samsung labs, we've managed to get our hands on the super-sleek TL100. This sliver of a camera shoots at 12-megapixel resolution, with a 3x zoom, all in a svelte 0.67-inch body. While the sample we took for a trial run was not a final production-run camera, we were able to garner a few impressions. On the negative side, the lens was decidedly on the slow side, and the buttons are tiny.

In the camera's favor, it seems to have an excellent menu system, as well as a large potential benefit from its automatic "Smart" mode. You can expect to see the TL100 on the shelves some time in the first half of 2009, with pricing yet to be announced.Incidentally, in reading the following, your eyes are not playing tricks: we worked with both a red and a black model of the camera, as reflected in the photos.

Over at the Samsung booth, we caught the lens of a petit little number called the TL100. The Samsung TL100 is ultra-compact, just like the two cameras above, and captures 12-megapixel still images. For shooters that haven't a clue what they're doing with a camera in their hands, the Samsung TL100 has a Smart Auto mode, which automatically detects a particular Scene Mode based on the shooting environment. We were lukewarm about the Samsung TL100's 3x optical zoom, Digital Image Stabilization and 2.7" LCD, and were hard-pressed to discover any exclusive findings within this camera. Like most other cameras, the Samsung TL100 is equipped with Smile Shot, Face Detection and records standard-definition video. Engadget announced Samsung TL100 digital camera as follows.

Yes, we know just how hard it can be to take pictures with your standard compact digital camera, what with the whole shutter button and all. Thank goodness for Samsung, who will take ease of use to a "new level" this spring with the TL100 slim camera, capable of automatically detecting whether you're taking a picture of a mountain or a person and toggling the appropriate mode accordingly. It can even go ahead and just take the durned picture for you in certain modes, able to tell when everyone has their eyes open or is beaming a sufficiently big enough smile. It will also take 800 x 592 videos at 20fps, and manages to pack a 2.7-inch TFT LCD into a body that Samsung says is just 16mm thick -- if you don't count the protrusion from the 3X lens. Since that lens is decidedly non-removable, we think we will.

The TL100: Samsung's 12-megapixel credit-card-sized camera

The Samsung TL100 is just a basic ultracompact point-and-shoot with not much going on except its small size. The 12-megapixel camera is just 3.7 inches wide by 2.2 inches high by 0.6 inch deep.

Like any decent point-and-shoot camera in its class, the TL100 has a largish LCD at 2.7 inches and a 3x optical zoom. It also has the shooting options currently in vogue: face, smile, and blink detection, auto scene recognition, and full-resolution ISO settings up to 1600.

It's reasonably priced for the specs, too, and will be available for purchase starting in April 2009.

I recently bought the Samsung TL100 in WH, and well, I actually wanted to share my experiences to help those who faced, well, similar problems.

First off, I’m neither a tech-geek nor am I someone really interested in buying like super-cheeky expensive stuff (Honestly as a foreign student it ain’t that easy to get around life aways)

Anyhow I was looking to buy a casual digital camera, which I could use to share some pictures on fbook. A friend of mine told me to buy a device from apetech (?; dunno if that’s the spelling).

However, I went to a mall nearby, and I have to say, some of those cameras are really expensive.It’s actually ridiculous, but since that wasn’t something I considered anyways, I just looked for this apetech-brand…and found it.It’s pretty funny but my thought at first site was like: What the …? Well this seems to be the reason, why those devices are cheaper! I mean, my pocket was limited to roughly 200 bucks and I wanted to check every device before I buy one of these ugly devices.
Well, however, before I lost my last glimpse of hope, I found a pretty little device on the other side, which was tagged 220$. Maybe not the price, I hoped for, but still, It was more affordable than most of the other products.
Anyways, the device on the other side was the Samsung TL100. And I was really impressed. I mean, it looks way more expensive than the other models and it’s really sweet. It’s designed pretty slim, but it still, it features all the functions, I wished for. Face-detection, self-portraying and video-recording …And I guess you’d imagine how this story ends.
I decided to add 20 additional bucks, and bought the Samsung. Don’t get me wrong, and I hope none will blame me for what so ever, but I never heard of this brand “Samsung” before. As said, I’m not a geek or someone interested in electro stuff either way. But what I can tell you is: This device simply rocks.
For this price, it will be impossible to find a product, which provides similar qualities. (The friend who told me to buy this apetech thingi mobaba has a Casio himself, and, even he admitted that the Samsung looks way better on pictures than the Casio).So if you’re looking for a camera providing you:- A stylish design- Zoom (first 3 times and then 5 times)- 12.2 Megapixel (?)- All functions you might wish forThen this should be your choice.
The Samsung is truly a quality product and I did not regret any moment so far. Plus, for the Samsung you don’t need any basic knowledge in order to take good pictures.My recommendation!"

Samsung Cams Go Ultrawide, Ultraslim

During four digital camera announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, Samsung introduced a wide-angle, 10X-optical-zoom camera that ranges from an extremely wide 24mm on the wide-angle end to 240mm on the telephoto end. In wide-angle capability, the Samsung HZ10W is the league leader at this year's CES among fixed-lens cameras.

The 10.2-megapixel HZ10W, which will be available in January for $300, also features a 720p high-definition shooting mode (30 frames per second with the H.264 codec) that saves video clips as one file, even after the shooter pauses the recording. Also in the mix are dual optical/digital image stabilization and today's usual host of face-detection, smile-trigger, and red-eye-correction modes.

In addition to the HZ10W, Samsung announced the ultracompact, 12.2-megapixel TL100, which is just 16.6 millimeters thick.

The TL100 offers a new addition to Samsung's in-camera features: a Smart Auto mode, which automatically selects a scene mode or camera settings based on the shooting environment. The TL100, which also has a 3X optical zoom, MPEG-4 video capability, digital image stabilization, and a 2.7-inch-diagonal LCD, will be available in the spring, but pricing information has not yet been released.

Rounding out Samsung's CES 2009 camera announcements are two new entry-level models, the SL102 and SL420. The lower-end, 10.2-megapixel SL102 (pictured below) provides a 3X optical zoom, a 2.5-inch-diagonal LCD, motion-JPEG video shooting, face recognition, and digital image stabilization.

The slightly higher-end SL420 (pictured below) packs in much of the same features, but has a 5X optical zoom, dual optical/digital image stabilization, MPEG-4 video capability, a 2.7-inch LCD, blink detection, and a smile-trigger shutter. Both models will be available in the spring, but pricing is not yet available.
