SoftPedia: Samsung Crams 64GB SSD in Full-HD Camcorder

SoftPedia announced Samsung's H series camcorders as below.

Although Samsung has prepared a huge line-up in the field of HDTVs for this year's International Consumer Electronics Show, the Korean company has also taken into consideration the fact that most people are looking for other devices to complement said high-definition TV sets. So, they'll also be showcasing four high-definition camcorders from the company's new H-series, one of which, the HMX-H106, is touted as being the world's first flash memory camcorder to feature a built-in 64GB SSD.

Before going into further details regarding Samsung's new H-Series, it's important to mention the fact that all the four new models (HMX-H106, HMX-H105, HMX-H104 and HMX-H100) are very similar, the main difference being the
storage capacity. Thus, while the H106 features the aforementioned 64GB SSD storage unit, the HMX-H105 and HMX-H104 come equipped with 32 and 16 GB solid-state drives, while the HMX-H100 relies solely on an SDHC card. The previous models also sport SDHC slots, which can be used for extending the available memory.

Samsung's decision to go all-SSD seems to be quite a logical one, since HDDs require more power and are also a lot more prone to damage than SSDs. Plus, Samsung is one of the first companies to experiment with SSDs, so it was expected to incorporate such a storage solution in just about any device possible.Anyhow, back to the camcorders.

All four fresh H-series devices have been equipped with Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lenses, which feature a 10x optical zoom and are paired with Samsung's new Optical Image Stabilizer to help reduce the blur found in footage as a result of vibrations and hand shake. Furthermore, these Schneider lenses feature a 37mm wide-angle focal length, thus making the camcorder a very good solution for recording wide-angle images.

Another very important component of Samsung's new cameras is represented by the 2.2-megapixel, 1/4.5-inch CMOS sensor, which features a very good level of light sensitivity. They feature 2.7-inch touch-screen LCD displays, which can be used either for reviewing the footage or accessing some of the camera's functions.Unfortunately, no pricing details have been provided for the time being, but we'll be sure to keep you updated as things unfold.

TGDaily: New Samsung HD Camcorder Offers 64GB SSD

TGDaily announced Samsung's H series camcorder.

The HMX-H106 is the first camcorder to feature an internal 64GB SSD. This makes the camcorder lighter weight and video storage less prone to failure as solid state drives lack moving parts like traditional hard drives.
Two of the other new models – the HMX-H105 and HMX-H104, feature 32GB and 16GB SSDs, respectively.Other features of these new HD camcorders include built-in H.264 compression for longer recording times, a Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lens with 10x optical zoom for better quality images, image stabilization, HDMI connection to display recorded video content directly on HDTVs, and a built-in 2.7-inch LCD touch screen for controlling on-board functions.

Samsung HMX-H100 full-HD camcorder

Ubergizmo announced Samsung's HMX-H100 camcorder as below.

This is the entry level model from the new Samsung H-series camcorders, unlike the other 3 models it does not have an internal SSD but requires a SD/SDHC card. Thanks to the H.264 compression, users can record up to six hours of full HD video on a 32 GB SDHC card, since on average people record only 30 min of video each time, this less expensive model is a good choice for the regular users.

The Schneider Kreuznach lens features a 10x optical zoom with the new Samsung Optical Image Stabilizer and offers a 37 mm wide-angle focal unlike most of the camcorders available on the market (typically 40-50 mm). Other features include HDMI connections to watch full HD video on a HDTV, a 2.7" swiveling TFT
LCD screen and a HD time lapse recording mode, that allows to record each image with a pre-selected time interval.

LetsGoDigital: Samsung Full-HD digital camcorders

LetsGoDigital announced Samsung's H series camcorders.

Samsung Electronics America extended its family of full-HD digital camcorders with four new models - the HMX-H106, HMX-H105, HMX-H104, and HMX-H100. Samsung’s new H-Series offer users high-performance, full HD video, a renowned Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lens with Optical Image Stabilization, and industry leading design; however, most notable is the use of internal Solid State Drives to provide onboard memory.
The Samsung HMX-H106 is Samsung’s new flagship full-HD digital camcorder, the world’s first to feature an internal 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD). Samsung’s renowned SSD
technology offers a substantial advantage over the use of Hard Disk Drives (HDD) in a digital camcorder.

Samsung HD camcorders with SSD technology
In comparison to HDD, Samsung’s SSD technology is more lightweight and compact, operates silently with very low heat emission, and features no moving parts, which significantly reduces overall power consumption and enhances reliability. No moving parts also make SSD technology more durable and resistant to shock and vibrations, which pose a considerable threat to the performance of HDD based digital camcorders. Additionally, Samsung’s SSD technology is faster than HDD, including quicker boot-up and read/write speeds which is required for the amount of data recorded in full-HD resolution. When actively reading and writing data, Samsung’s SSD technology consumes approximately 1/8th of the power of a comparable HDD.

Samsung SSD video memory
The Samsung HMX-H105 and Samsung HMX-H104 offer 32GB and 16GB SSDs, respectively, and like the Samsung HMX-H106, also allow consumers to expand memory capacity using an SD/SDHC memory card. The Samsung HMX H100 does not feature an internal SSD and requires the use of a SD/SDHC memory card. The new H-Series full-HD digital camcorders also utilize H.264 compression, which significantly increases recording time. At full-HD resolution and when set to fine mode, users can record up to three hours directly to the 16GB Samsung HMX-H104, six hours to the 32GB Samsung HMX H105, and an unparalleled 12 hours to the 64GB Samsung HMX-H106.

Samsung has released the new compact digital camera ST500 with 16.6mm slim and colorful design. In a word, it looks like considering women users with the ultra slim colorful design and beauty shot function known as Posasi . This is for beginners Easy and simple camera. Even if you don t know about a photo, you can take a good picture with the Smart function. Like this, I think the ST50 will be a good product in both design and function for beginners and women.

CE: Samsung debuts H-Series of HD camcorders, first with 64GB SSD

CrazyEngineers annouonced Samsung's H series camcorders.

You should've known that Canon wouldn't be able to introduce a new family of HD camcorders without Samsung hitting back with a crew of its own, so it's with that in mind that we present Samsung's H-Series.
The HMX-H106, HMX-H105, HMX-H104, and HMX-H100 all arrive with Full HD sensors and a Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lens with Optical Image Stabilization, but it's the H106 that really steals the show. Said device is the first Full HD camcorder to incorporate a 64GB SSD within, while the H105 and H104 offer up 32GB and 16GB SSDs, respectively; as for the H100, you'll be providing your own SD / SDHC card before anything gets recorded. The whole crew utilizes H.264 compression, meaning that the big daddy can hold 12 hours of footage at Full HD resolution. Mum's the word on pricing / availability, but the full release is waiting just after the break.

Review:BestBuy, Samsung TL100 Digital Camera

There is a review and product information for the Samsung TL100 digital camera posted in the BestBuy web site.
Here is the review.

What's great about it: Easy to use, potrait technology, beauty shot, great design, really slim

What's not so great: Might not be best for experts"

I recently bought the Samsung TL100 in WH, and well, I actually wanted to share my experiences to help those who faced, well, similar problems.

First off, I’m neither a tech-geek nor am I someone really interested in buying like super-cheeky expensive stuff (Honestly as a foreign student it ain’t that easy to get around life aways)

Anyhow I was looking to buy a casual digital camera, which I could use to share some pictures on fbook. A friend of mine told me to buy a device from apetech (?; dunno if that’s the spelling).

However, I went to a mall nearby, and I have to say, some of those cameras are really expensive. It’s actually ridiculous, but since that wasn’t something I considered anyways, I just looked for this apetech-brand…and found it.It’s pretty funny but my thought at first site was like: What the …? Well this seems to be the reason, why those devices are cheaper! I mean, my pocket was limited to roughly 200 bucks and I wanted to check every device before I buy one of these ugly devices.
Well, however, before I lost my last glimpse of hope, I found a pretty little device on the other side, which was tagged 220$. Maybe not the price, I hoped for, but still, It was more affordable than most of the other products.
Anyways, the device on the other side was the Samsung TL100. And I was really impressed. I mean, it looks way more expensive than the other models and it’s really sweet. It’s designed pretty slim, but it still, it features all the functions, I wished for. Face-detection, self-portraying and video-recording …And I guess you’d imagine how this story ends.
I decided to add 20 additional bucks, and bought the Samsung. Don’t get me wrong, and I hope none will blame me for what so ever, but I never heard of this brand “Samsung” before. As said, I’m not a geek or someone interested in electro stuff either way. But what I can tell you is: This device simply rocks.
For this price, it will be impossible to find a product, which provides similar qualities. (The friend who told me to buy this apetech thingi mobaba has a Casio himself, and, even he admitted that the Samsung looks way better on pictures than the Casio). So if you’re looking for a camera providing you:- A stylish design- Zoom (first 3 times and then 5 times)- 12.2 Megapixel (?)- All functions you might wish forThen this should be your choice.
The Samsung is truly a quality product and I did not regret any moment so far. Plus, for the Samsung you don’t need any basic knowledge in order to take good pictures. My recommendation!"

Would you recommend this product to a friend?: Yes
Is this product used primarily for business?: No

InformationWeek: Samsung Unveils First Camcorders With Solid-State Drives

InformationWeek annouced Samsung's H series camcorders as below.

The camcorders feature a 2.2-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor, a 10x optical zoom, and a Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lens

Samsung on Wednesday introduced five high-definition camcorders, three of them the company claims are the first to use internal solid-state drives.

The camcorders, introduced at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, include the HMX-H106, HMX-H105, and HMX-H104, which have storage capacities of 64 GB, 32 GB, and 16 GB, respectively. In terms of recording times, the largest drive holds 12 hours of high-definition video, the middle drive six hours, and the smallest device three hours.

Samsung said its SSDs offer several advantages over hard-disk drives, which are typically used in camcorders with capacities of 32 GB and 64 GB. SSD are lighter, smaller and have no moving parts, which makes them quieter and more reliable, the company said.

In addition, the SSDs use one-eighth of the power of a compatible HDD and are more resistant to shock and vibrations, Samsung said. They also have faster read/write speeds and
boot up quicker.

Each of the camcorders features a 2.2-megapixel
CMOS imaging sensor, a 10x optical zoom, and a Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan HD lens. The products also include image stabilization technology to help counteract shaky video and blurring. The devices also can take 4.7-megapixel digital still photos.

Samsung introduced two HD camcorders that require the use of separate
memory cards, the HMX-H100 and the HMX-R10. The latter device can also take 9 megapixel still photos and has a 5x optical zoom and a swiveling 2.7-inch touch-screen LCD.

In addition, Samsung unveiled its second-generation compact camcorder that can record in the format and
resolution required by YouTube, resulting in faster upload times to the online video network. The SMX-F34 differs from the previous generation in that it can also take digital still photos. The new product has 16-GB of flash memory for storing up to eight hours of standard-definition video.

Prices for the new products weren't disclosed. The HMX-H106 is scheduled to be available in April, the HMX-H105, -H104 and -H100 in March; the HMX-R10 in the summer and the SMX-F34 in the spring.

gadgetell: World’s first 64GB SSD camcorder by Samsung

gadgetell announced Samsung's H series camcorders.

Live, from CES, Samsung is announcing their brand new high volume memory, high speed line of cameras. Samsung is betting on bigger capacity (64GB and 128GB) and their super fast boot time and access, which they say is 3x faster than HDD.

Samsung touts SSD’s best aspects as to why it is the perfect memory for camcorders. The lack of moving parts means the device is less fragile and is anti-shock. Samsung will have five units in total that rely on SSD memory.

The H106, the top of the line features 1920x1080, built-in SSD to 64GB. Optical Image Stabilizer, a 37mm wide angle lens, HD time lapse photo are all on board. The camera is capable of a 4.7 mp still photo.

More as it comes on price. The unit is slated to be available in April.
