CES 2010: Samsung NX10 Hands-On

The DigitalCameraReview posted information about Samsung NX10 DSLR camera as below.

Samsung's biggest digital imaging announcement leading up to CES was the NX10 - a little camera with a big 14.6 megapixel APS-C sized sensor. Samsung allowed DCR some hands-on time with a pre-production unit at their sprawling piece of show floor real estate this afternoon.

The NX10 houses a slightly larger sensor than the Micro Four Thirds cameras that make up its direct competition - a fact that Samsung was eager to point out with a visual aide.

But sensor size is only part of the equation. Quality of the optics and ease of use will be important factors to the potential NX customer. The NX10 on display today was coupled to a new 30mm Samsung lens, which will not be initially sold as a kit with the camera. When the camera hits store shelves, customers will have their pick of two zooms in addition to the 30mm, and Samsung has more lenses and a K-mount adapter on the way.

Pricing is still a question mark as well - Samsung is holding that information under their hats for the time being, though it was emphasized that the NX10 would be priced very competitively. More information is expected in the coming weeks, and as 2010 unfolds, it looks very likely that we'll be seeing an expansion of the NX line.

Once again, all of the images captured today were taken with a pre-production model, so they shouldn't offer any final jurisdiction on the NX10. For now, they look pleasantly sharp and colors are faithfully reproduced. And for those who remember our coverage of PMA 2009, you'll notice that the teddy bears are gone. Instead, enjoy a collection of preliminary images from a miniature Camelot.
