5 Things Samsung's New Cameras Can Do That Other's Can't

The StreetLevel posted a product review for Samsung TL225 digital camera.

Digital cameras are a dime a dozen these days and everyone knows it. (If you didn't then now you know.) There are only so many megapixels and "scene modes" that you can cram into a device the size of a pack of cigarettes before everything becomes old hat, which is why Samsung's latest digital cameras, the TL225, TL 220 and CL65, are a cut above the rest. Here's why:

Read more after the jump.

1) Because we're sick and tired of taking more than one picture to replace our wack old Facebook profile picture. Yeah, we hate that, too, which is why the TL225 and 220 is perfect for all those self portraits your girlfriend is always wanting to take. See, there's a 1.5-inch LCD next to the 27mm wide-angle lens that gives a preview of what you would be looking at if you were behind the lens.

2) Because we can't all afford a copy of Photoshop. Selective Auto Focus makes the iPhone 3GS's camera really cool and Samsung has replicated the technology on the TL225, 220 and CL65. Smart Touch Auto Focus allows you to pick what's in focus no matter where it is in the frame giving the rest of the shot a nice bokeh effect.

3) Because standard definition is as old as dinosaurs. It's one thing to shoot a skate vid like the IN4MATION crew, but if it's not in high-def then you're doing it wrong. Take a look at Nike SB's 'Debacle' and you tell us which one you'd rather see over and over. All three cameras shoot 720p video at 30fps.

4) Because beauty is skin deep. Whether you're in your 20s or 30s, we're not immune to getting the occasional blemish and neither is your girlfriend, which is why the Beauty Shot feature will benefit you both at some point. Smooth out all those wrinkles, zits and moles in a matter of seconds.

5) Because we all get lost and the heat is making us lazy. It seems like you can't buy a high-end gadget these days without built-in Wi-Fi and GPS and the CL65 is no different. In fact, Samsung managed to cram Bluetooth 2.0 support and DLNA compatibility into the CL65 digital camera. Now every photo you take is geo-tagged and can be automatically uploaded to Facebook or Picasa. You can even upload HD video up to YouTube. If you're too lazy to transfer images to your laptop then beam them over Bluetooth. DLNA connected devices like your HDTV can stream pictures and video directly off the CL65, too.

The
TL225 and TL220 are due out next month for $350 and $300, respectively. The CL65 drops next month for $400.
