SAMSUNG ES60 Review

Here is a user preview about Samsung ES60 digital camera.

Even though it’s already autumn, but it’s still hot. Even though it’s hot, but it’s a better season to travel around, because of cool wind. (Because of pain in my back, I couldn’t help staying at home. Fortunately, now I’m pretty well, so I go about various places.)

The ES60 from Samsung Digital Imaging which I’m reviewing is a portable and popularized digital camera and its mobility and reasonable price are impressive. (Compared with high-end and DSLRs, it has better mobility and more reasonable price, so it’s good to use outdoors.)

I’m wondering what has been changed compared with the PL55 and ES20. Let’s check out through the review.

It has 90.4 x 59 x 21.6 mm of size and 116g of weight like other digital cameras. (It’s a little thick, but its small size and light weight are impressive.) @ Some people are too careful to use their expensive cameras. The ES60 has great mobility and 12.2M pixels at a reasonable price, so it will satisfy those who want to carry their camera around, I think.

There’s no big design different compared with the preview ES series. (Its strong color was so impressive. Including the red color, it comes with various colors such as black, grey, and pink.)

It’s the front side and there’s an optical 3x zoom protruding type lens. It supports 35~105mm angles with 3.2~5.8 of F number. (The angle is not that wide compared to high grade products, but good enough for snap shots.) Built-in microphone is located on the upper part of the lens and allows you to record voice. A lamp and AF are also located. It also has a built-in flash to help shooting at night.

It’s the top of the product and there’s a power button on the center, shutter button on the side. In order to hang in on a neck, a strap ring is located. (It was light enough to hang on a my neck.)

It’s the back of the body and 230K pixels 2.5” TFT LCD is located. It senses the brightness of surroundings and automatically adjusts its brightness by using the intelligent LCD, so it saves the battery consumption and gives the best visibility. (The LCD is a little small and the viewing angle is not so wide, but the vividness was quite good.) On the side, a zoom button, status LED, menu button, cross button, play button, and Fn button are located to control the camera easily.

On the left side, like the picture, universal 20 pin port is installed to simply transfer pictures and videos to a PC (Through the included AC charger and USB connection, the battery can be recharged.) and on the right side, a speaker is located.

It’s the bottom of the body and there’s a mount hole to connect a tripod and on the right side, a battery and SD card slot is located. (It supports up to 8GB SDHC. There will be no inconvenience caused by the storage.)

Like I mentioned earlier, it has the great mobility. (It fits well in a pocket or a bag.)

@ A battery, adapter, USB cable, Hand strap, S/W CD, and User manual are included. A memory card, AV cable and a case are not included.)

We’ve checked the design and feature of the product. Let’s take a look at the functions supported.

It’s the main screen and it’s like other products which don’t support a touch screen. It also supports video recording and by using the Fn button on the back, you can simply set each mode.

It’s the mode. Unlike high grade products, it doesn’t support Smart Auto, but most other functions are supported. (I think the scene mode can cover Smart Auto. I like that it supports more various modes thank I thought.)

By using the cross button on the back, you can set the frequently used functions without entering the setting menu. It can hide all information on the LCD and you can easily set Self Timer, Flash, Macro, and so on.

DIS function is impressive. (For those who take blurry shots a lot, it’s a necessary mode. It’s useful for indoor and night shot.)

It supports Photo Help Guide for beginners. (Like the picture, it helps beginners take great shots by displaying instructions in pictures and explanations.) @ I think it’s a great function. It will help those who take shots in Auto mode.

Like the picture, by supporting various scene modes, you can easily control the camera and take a shot. (Beauty Shot mode is supported. Through the brightness and other compensation, it takes shots like using Photoshop.) @ Unlike high grade products, it has the limited Face Recognition function, but Beauty Shot will give satisfaction to a lot of users.
